More visitors

Yesterday, some very close family friends visited from Kosovo. Their father knew Helen's father very well, and their son stayed here for 3 years while he was studying at music school. He is like a brother to Helen, and her mum describes him as "the lost son from a previous marriage". :-)

Anyway, good time had by one & all, although I was laughing a little later than everyone else as I had to have the jokes translated. Unfortunately some of them don't translate well, & you had to be there to understand... ah well! That teaches me not to learn the language!

After eating a large meal, with rakia & beer, some of us went into town to a cafe to have either dessert or a few more drinks. It was the first time I had been into a local cafe here, and the first thing that hits you is... the cigarette smoke!! Wow! You don't know how good you have it at home until you experience it again!

The evening finished fairly early, as they had long drive home (over 2 hours). There was a bit of consternation later as it was realised that the mother had left her handbag, but by that stage it was too late to come back, & they had already talked their way through the border!

It's nice to know that there are still borders that you can talk your way through :-)
