Out to the village again today, paying respects again at the grave of Helen's grandfather. Candles were lit for everyone, and as usual,. I was given an extra one to put on Helen's father's grave for Dad. Once again, an emotional time.
Instead of a big feast, a regular lunch was had, altho this was still a huge feed. However, we had to "earn" this by doing a bit of hard labour! There was a huge pile of corn that needed husking & loading into a storage area, in preparation to feed the animals over the winter. Took 4 of us the best part of 4 hours to achieve. We were all very sore at the end of it. Today, the day after, my back is still very tired!
The pile doesn't look very big, but there was almost the same amount again out of shot at the bottom of the photo. And it all had to be loaded by hand into the "cage" behind the red machine.
